About Us

History

Mackenzie Maritime traces its origin to one of the pioneer British companies in East Africa, namely Smith Mackenzie & Company.

1872: The Company was established, operated as a general merchant as well as agents of the British Indian Steamship Company.
1951: Smith, Mackenzie & Co expanded their operations to be the agents for Peninsular & the Oriental Steam and Navigation Company.
1955: Smith Mackenzie relocated to Kenya and operated as Mackenzie (K) Ltd. Mackenzie was Concentrating mainly in ship agency as well as stevedoring through a subsidiary company.
1970: Mackenzie Maritime was established and was dedicated to mainly operating as shipping and clearing agent providing transport and warehousing services as well.
2007: The name was changed to Mackenzie Maritime E.A. Limited, offering complete logistics solutions.

Company Background & Ownership

In 2007, Mackenzie Maritime was acquired by MJ Group of Companies, One of the largest owners & operators of bulk commodities handling terminals in East Africa with stakes in Grains, LPG, Dry Bulk products and Bulk Liquids. The Group is driven by the Vision of ‘Being the leading African Port Service Provider of Repute in the International Arena’.

 

Mackenzie Maritime E.A Limited offers multi-modal logistics solutions including, Sea & Air transportation, Road transportation, Rail transportation, Clearing and Forwarding, Project Cargo handling, Heavy lift handling and transport, Oil and Gas industry support, Warehousing, Marine services, Lifting gears and Lifting equipment inspection and certification.
